Dr. Gaynor received his veterinary degree from The Ohio State University in 1988. He was in private small practice in northeastern Ohio for 1 year prior to returning to The Ohio State University for a 3 year residency in Anesthesiology, where he also received a Master’s Degree in Veterinary Clinical Sciences focusing on cardiac dysrhythmias. He is currently board certified in veterinary anesthesiology, pain management, and certified in veterinary acupuncture.

Dr. Gaynor joined the faculty at Colorado State University in 1992 and served as Section Chief and associate professor of anesthesiology and pain management from 2000 through 2003. He was a member of the Leadership Council for the Companion Animal Pain Management Consortium and has served as a member of the board of directors for the International Veterinary Academy of Pain Management. He implements the standards of University level anesthesia and analgesia in the private practice setting of Peak Performance Veterinary Group. His Handbook of Veterinary Pain Management is the leading text on the subject and has been published in several languages.  Dr. Gaynor enjoys bicycling, hiking, skiing and spending time with family and pets.
